DIAL 911

If you have an emergency

ESD 11 OPERATIONS

ESD 11 uses a hybrid approach to deployment. This approach allows for geographic and volume coverage. This approach uses ten station-based ambulances to provide geographic coverage to the 177-square-mile district. The other seven to seventeen ambulances are centrally deployed and are used to manage their volume, often in concentrated areas. These units are strategically deployed to areas where previous 911 calls have occurred on other days around specific times. The predictive nature of a dynamically resourced system goes more accurate with time and experience. This dynamic resource management has been proven to dramatically reduce costs and improve efficiency, thus providing a highly reliable service for the district’s residents, guests, and visitors.

The value equation follows the logic of having more ambulances during hours of higher human activity. Fire departments protect property and, therefore, choose a strategic location to provide maximum coverage for the property in their district buildings that don’t go home at night. EMS, unlike fire departments, protect people. People move around throughout the day and return home to sleep, typically at night. The reduction in volume hours after midnight does not warrant the higher number of units available during regular waking hours.
